100k Handler Directions

DIRECTIONS FOR 100 k HANDLERS
VT 100 MILE ENDURANCE RACE
July 21-22, 2012

printable version

There are 7 locations at which you may meet your runners along the trail.

MEETING OR HELPING RUNNERS AT ANY OTHER LOCATIONS IS NOT ALLOWED and can result in disqualification of the runner.

In your runners packet there will be a Handler Vehicle Identification Tag which must be used at all times. Cars on the course must be kept to a minimum so you need to follow the handler directions from one spot to the next. There will be red plastic plates on the handler routes to help with directions. Please be very friendly and considerate to everyone on the course and do not park on lawns or in driveways. The future of the race is dependent upon the people whose communities we run through so HAVE A FUN TIME AND BE FRIENDLY.

Handler Guidelines

Handlers are not allowed to park anywhere other than locations posted and allowed by race management.

Handlers must follow all posted speed limits (watch for speed traps) and traffic signs.

NO LITTERING!!! In the past our biggest litter problems have come from handlers.

All pets must be leashed at all times and dogs are not allowed at Silver Hill Meadow.

If your runner drops from the race, make certain that proper procedures have been followed. THE RUNNER OR CREW MUST NOTIFY RACE PERSONNEL AT ONCE.

(Note:  In order to follow these directions more easily, we suggest you keep resetting your trip odometer for each segment. We also strongly suggest that handlers carry a good flashlight in order to help spot road signs along the route, and a headlamp for walking to and from aid stations in the dark.
